Ambition: Strategy War Game App Reviews

Revised Review

Im revising my previous one star rating up to a three star rating. Ambition is a solid five star game. Under Flounder Apps, the original developers, Ambition had its bugs, but customer support was top notch. When a bug came up an email to the developers almost always solved the problem. If the problem could not be solved immediately, the developers always responded within about 24 hours. In short, communication was excellent. At the end of May, Ambition was acquired by Branchenking. Immediately after the acquisition server issues began presenting themselves. A few days later, Ambition stopped functioning entirely. A few days after that, Branchenking sent out a communication that they were switching servers and the game would be back up in 48 hours. The complete nonfunctioning of the game then persisted for 10 more days. Now, Ambition appears to be functioning. Yesterday Branchenking sent out only its second communication explaining the technical issues that had transpired and admonishing " true fans" to revise their one star reviews that had been submitted while the game was down. Im giving Branchenking the benefit of the doubt on all technical issues. So why is this still only a three star review? Because while the technical issues may have been out of Branchenkings control, customer service was not. Branchenkings new message says that these one star reviews have "serious negative consequences for Ambitions future" that theyve "impaired funding for future development" and that Branchenking has "a lot of plans for future development" but that "the current low ratings and rankings" have forced Branchenking to "put these plans on hold". While all of this might be true, the fault lies squarely with Branchenking. Branchenking ought not think of those of us that left one star reviews as "fans" or "players". We are not Branchenkings fans or players. We are Branchenkings customers. Everyone playing Ambition paid for it. Branchenking has thus far provided almost no customer service. If after the initial problems, theyd sent out an immediate message explaining the situation, customers would have understood. If after their 48 hour message they had sent another message explaining the continuing issues, customers would have complained, but understood. Instead Branchenking said nothing until the game was back up and functioning. That 48 hour message stayed up for 10 days. During those 10 days, Branchenkings customers became increasingly angry. Every one star review was justified at that time because Ambition was unplayable and no adequate explanation was given. At that point, no one should have bought the game because Branchenking provided no current information as to whether Ambition would actually return. Now that the game is back, Ive revised my rating. As I noted before, Ambition is a solid five star game. Branchenking gets zero stars for customer service and no benefit of the doubt regarding their future conduct. Going forward Branchenking, how about instead of admonishing "true fans" to leave a new review so your revenue flow will open up, you instead run the game competently and provide decent customer service? If technical issues outside of your control come up, tell the customers. Dont go silent for a couple of weeks. And do not tell your customers to be "true fans" and to up their ratings for a game they could not play. Ratings are earned. Ambition is a five star game. Branchenkings customer service has been deserving of one star. Earn those other four.

Great game despite temporary hiccup

Ive been waiting for years for a A&A-type game to be available on a mobile device and was pumped to see one finally developed. The game play is great, despite having some issues when the game was sold to another developer. Many of those wrinkles are being or have been ironed out. Its totally worth the price, if for nothing else there are no micro-transactions that advantage those who pay. I hope it stays that way with the new developers. Its my hope that future updates will include AI for single-player games. In any case, its an awesome game, and worth the money. Itll get a 5-star review from me once AI is developed.

Amazing!!!

If you like strategy games (axis and allies, risk, and more) this is the game for you. The game is fantastic and includes multiple maps, odds calculator and more. Great multiplayer features like in game chat. Best app purchase you can make.

play axis and allies on your time wooot

okay so this is the only axis and allies port ive seen on a digital platform. the core game minus super tech is there as well as some interesting additions like china being its own country. with the exception of oaying for a couple of maps there are no micro transations and this game is by no means pay to win. im sure once the company that purchased this game from the original team works out all the bugs it will be amazing and i look forward to the future of this game.

Solid game

Listen its been a problem w the gameplay thats know but I will certainly wait to c if it is all worked out. I love this game played the board game as a kid. Hopefully all will get worked out I for 1 am willing to wait it out

A great game, at a crossroads

Fans of Axis and Allies will love this game. Id say it has more potential than A&A which has been a staple board game for 20 years there have been expansion games but they have parts and those pieces cost money. This game can offer more variety, more pieces, more scenarios... All without the prohibitive costs that hold up development on the board games. Pass and play works perfect. The server issues are inherent to ANY start up app, and they are temporary. So long as the user community grows, the app can and will get better with each point release. Im looking forward to pillboxes, sea mines, V2s, maps, campaigns...but none of that is possible unless people buy in. After all, its not like the owners of A&A are making any apps to compete.

Axis and fun !

The fun of axis and Allie without setting the board up in an hour and playing 9 games at once on different maps as well ! Look for me at Slimshadybrady

The wait is over

I have been longing for and waiting for this app for years. Thank you for making it. I love it. The only thing missing is a single player option. Hopefully youll add it. Maybe run a Kickstarter campaign to raise the funds. Ill help fund it!

What gives?

Had 100% win record but was removed from leader board without any notification. This behavior is unacceptable by game leadership!!!

A lot of fun with friends

Able to play a variety of maps with friends or other people online. Lots of fun

Best WWII Strategy Game in the world.

If you love A&A this is your app. Highly recommended. Giving it four stars only because there are a few things to improve, though Im confident these items are in the works. Have played for a number of months, and this game has no peers.

Great app!

This is a great app! Just like playing Axis & Allies. The company has had some issues lately, but, they are getting more responsive. I love this app, because you can play A&A with people all over the world, at your convenience. No, its not perfect. But, its a well designed game, and they keep making it better.

One of the best strategy games out there. Some issues still being ironed out.

Theyve done a great job of integrating the rules for my very complicated boardgame into this program. You should take half an hour just to set up the board game to play axis and Allies, and you ended up usually being a multi-day game. With such a complicated will structure this is inevitable that there will be bugs in the software, and there are still some in this game they need to be ironed out. But the game is getting better with each new release. I hope the new owners will continue to improve upon the game to make it better and to iron out the bugs.

Has had tech issues but fun game

Fingers crossed that it will all be good

Destroyed

This was such a great game till it got taken over by new ownership this is upsetting because this was such a great game to play

Great game and a lot of potential.

If you are a Axis and Allies fan this game is for you. Been running smooth but the Support could be better.

Good times are back

They have fixed a bunch. Good to see it.

This is my favorite game, by far...and I play a lot of games

Im an avid axis and allies fan that flies a lot for work, so I often spend time in airports waiting for flights. This is by far my favorite game. Its in-depth, broad-based, and multi-faceted without being cumbersome. If you want a top-notch turn-based strategy game thats reasonably historically accurate, you wont find a better one than Ambition. And yes, if you like axis and allies, this is it.

Great mobile version of AnA

I dont understand the negative reviews...at all. Those of us that love AnA have been dying for a great mobile game close to the real thing. Ive tried them all and this game is the closest to the actual play of the board game. Every game can get better, so there isnt a "perfect" game...that said, this game is pretty close and a great option when you cant set up the board with friends. I love the multiplayer option! Its easily worth the few dollars if you love WWII strategy games...no hokey graphics or side story lines, just WWII strategy!

Axis & Allies - Online, Yes Please

Sure, there are bugs. The new developers are working on it. For now I am happy to be playing multiplayer A&A on my phone. Keep up the work, get those bugs cleaned up and this is a home run.
